The Department of Mathematics of the Universidad de los Andes invites applications for several postdoctoral positions starting August 2018. Postdoctoral candidates should have a PhD degree in Mathematics or a closely related area (Statistics, Operations Research, etc.) awarded before the start of the appointment, and must exhibit clear research and teaching potential as well as research interests aligned with those of the research faculty of the department.

The positions are for one year, renewable for a second year after a positive evaluation. The starting date of the appointment, pending administrative approval, is August 2018. The teaching load is three (3) courses per year and salaries are competitive. Successful candidates who do not speak Spanish may teach their classes in English.

A PhD in Mathematics or a closely related area (Statistics, Operations research, etc.) is required. Candidates must show a strong research record as well as commitment to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level. We are looking for an ambitious, excellent PhD student working on stochastic (partial) differential equstions for the research project “Analysis of partial differential equations with cross-diffusion and stochastic driving”, financed by the Austrian Science Fund (FWF).

The candidate should have a strong background in stochastic analysis and/or stochastic (partial) differential equations. The project leader is Dr. Nicola Zamponi (TU Wien), in cooperation with Prof. Christian Kuehn (TU Munich) and Prof. Ansgar Juengel (TU Wien).

The PhD student will benefit from the activities of the doctoral program “Dissipation and Dispersion of Nonlinear PDEs” and the research center “Taming Complexity in PDE Systems”, including a joint PhD supervision, research in a team, and a soft-skill training program with summer and winter schools.

We offer an exciting and dynamic scientific environment in Vienna, a structured PhD program, and a working contract for 1+2 years with a competitive salary including full social security. The International Max Planck Research School Mathematics in the Sciences offers several positions (so-called Doktorandenförderverträge) to students who will work on a PhD thesis under the supervision of its scientific members.

Students are supposed to work in one of the following areas:

Three permanent positions are offered at the Department of Biostatistics, University of Oslo, Oslo, Norway.

You will have expertise in statistics, to be interpreted in the widest sense and to include applied, computational and methodological statistics, together with a strong interest in biology, medicine, epidemiology and/or public health. The successful professor candidate will have an exceptional research record, as judged by the strength of the scientific, peer-reviewed publications. She/he is an innovative and independent researcher and leader in her or his field. The ability to win research funding is important. Active collaborations, interdisciplinary and internationally, are expected. Applicants at the associate professor level will have started to achieve results in these directions and show exceptional promise to become leading academics.

The Department of Statistics and Applied Probability invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in Probability (STAT18A) starting July 1, 2018.

Areas of focus include Mathematical Finance, Risk Management, Applied Probability, Stochastic Processes and Simulations. The successful candidate would be affiliated with the Center for Financial Mathematics and Actuarial Research hosted by the Department, and would be expected to be engaged with the Financial Mathematics & Statistics and/or Actuarial Science programs offered at UCSB.
